Target Information
The Toll-like receptor (TLR) family in mammals comprises transmembrane proteins characterized by multiple leucine-rich repeats in the extracellular domain and an IL-1 receptor motif in the cytoplasmic domain. TLRs signal through adaptor molecules and are essential mediators of innate immunity for microbial recognition.
TLR12 displays distinct expression in macrophages and epithelial cells of the liver, kidney, and bladder, and does not respond to known TLR ligands.
