Target Information
This gene belongs to the H/ACA snoRNPs family, which is involved in rRNA processing and modification. The protein encoded by this gene localizes to nucleoli and coiled bodies in the nucleus. Depletion of any H/ACA snoRNP component impairs 18S rRNA production and pseudouridylation. These proteins are also part of the telomerase complex. Mutations in this gene cause X-linked dyskeratosis congenita and Hoyeraal-Hreidarsson syndrome. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
