Target Information
Cytochrome c oxidase (COX) is the terminal component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain and catalyzes electron transfer from reduced cytochrome c to oxygen. This complex includes three catalytic subunits encoded by mitochondrial genes and multiple structural subunits encoded by nuclear genes. Mitochondrial subunits function in electron transfer, while nuclear subunits regulate and assemble the complex.
