Target Information
Apoptosis Inducing Factor (AIF)는 염색질 응축과 DNA 단편화를 유도하는 단백질로, 세포사멸(apoptosis)에 핵심적인 역할을 합니다. AIF는 미토콘드리아에 존재하며, apoptosis가 유도될 때 핵으로 이동하여 cytochrome c 및 caspase-9 방출을 촉진합니다. 인간과 마우스 간에 높은 보존성을 가지며, 광범위하게 발현됩니다.
AIF 유전자 변이는 미토콘드리아 뇌병증을 유발하는 산화적 인산화 결핍증 6과 관련이 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사체 변형이 존재하며, 염색체 10에 관련된 유사유전자가 확인되었습니다.
