Target Information
Cactin is a novel negative regulator of TLR signaling and functions by targeting MHC Class III genes at the molecular and functional levels. It is localized in the nucleus, which is essential for its inhibitory role in TLR signaling. Overexpression of Cactin suppresses TLR-induced activation of NF-κB and interferon-regulatory factor transcription factors, reducing expression of TLR-responsive genes. Additionally, Cactin interacts with IkB-like protein and other proteins encoded by genes in the MHC Class III region of chromosome 6.
