Target Information
The STS gene encodes an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of sulfated steroid precursors to estrogens during pregnancy. This protein is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum and functions as a homodimer. Mutations in this gene are associated with X-linked ichthyosis (XLI).
