Rabbit anti-human non-neuronal enolase polyclonal antibody recognizes human non-neuronal enolase, also known as alpha-enolase or enolase 1.
Target Information
Enolase (2-phosphoglycerate hydrolyase or phosphopyruvate hydrase) is a glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of 2-phosphoglycerate to phosphoenolpyruvate. It consists of three subunits: alpha, beta, and gamma.
Non-neuronal enolase (ENO1) is an isoform composed of two alpha subunits. The ENO1 gene also encodes tau-crystallin, a monomeric structural lens protein.
This multifunctional enzyme participates in glycolysis, growth control, hypoxia tolerance, and allergic responses. It can act as a receptor and activator of plasminogen on the surface of various cell types, including leukocytes and neurons, and stimulates immunoglobulin production.
ENO1 serves as a diagnostic marker for several tumors, hypoxic brain injury, and endometriosis. Antibodies against alpha-enolase are associated with cancer-associated retinopathy syndrome (CAR) and Hashimoto encephalopathy (HE), a rare autoimmune disease linked to Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT).
