Target Information
TGF beta-1 (TGFB1, Transforming Growth Factor Beta 1) is a member of the transforming growth factor beta superfamily of cytokines, found almost ubiquitously in tissues.
It regulates proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, and migration in many cell types.
TGF beta-1 is stored in the extracellular matrix as a latent complex and activated by integrin binding.
Mutations in the TGFB1 gene are associated with Camurati-Engelmann disease and cystic fibrosis.
The protein plays key roles in tumor progression and cellular signaling regulation.
