Product Specific Information

  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

SOX9 plays a crucial role in sex determination and differentiation of Sertoli cells. It is involved in chondrogenesis and acts as a transcription factor regulating genes associated with cartilage formation.
Translocation of the SOX9 gene can cause campomelic dysplasia. It contributes to the formation of testes from fetal gonads and is a key factor in neuron-glia switching during spinal cord development.
In prostate development, SOX9 supports epithelial outgrowth and basal cell maintenance; in cancer, these functions can promote tumor growth and invasion.
SOX9 also participates in neural crest precursor formation and regulates melanin production. Expression is observed in adult testis, adult heart, and fetal brain by Northern blot analysis.
