Product Specific Information
This antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The differentiation and activation of monocytes (MO) and monocytic cells are modulated by 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (Vitamin D3). Using mRNA Differential Display technology, a gene induced in human monocytes cultured with Vitamin D3 was identified. This gene encodes a 16.5 kDa protein structurally homologous to yeast MMS2p and human CROC-1, defining the conserved Ubc-like protein family.
UBE2V2 (also known as MMS2) is required, along with Ubc13, for RAD6/RAD18-dependent postreplicative DNA repair and plays a central role in assembling K63-linked polyubiquitin chains. These chains act as novel signals in DNA repair and IκBα kinase activation. Crystal structure analysis confirms that the Mms2/Ubc13 heterodimer is essential for DNA repair.
