Target Information
Collagen Type XIX is a 1,142 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene COL19A1. It belongs to the fibril-associated collagens with interrupted helices (FACIT) family and functions as a cross-bridge between collagen fibrils and extracellular matrix molecules.
It is involved in skeletal myogenesis in the developing esophagus and may play a role in the organization of the pericellular matrix or sphincteric smooth muscle.
Collagen Type XIX typically forms oligomers with disulfide-linked subunits and is expressed mainly in vascular, neuronal, mesenchymal, and some epithelial basement membrane zones in the umbilical cord.
