This antibody is specific for endogenous levels of the ~57 kDa peripherin protein. It performs well on aldehyde-fixed tissues.
Target Information
Peripherin is a 57 kDa type III intermediate filament that serves as a specific marker for peripheral neurons, including enteric ganglion cells. It is expressed in the developing peripheral nervous system and is highly enriched in neuronal derivatives of the neural crest. Compared to other neural markers such as S100 and NSE, peripherin does not stain chromaffin cell types.
