Target Information
Fox-3 (also known as NeuN, HRNBP3, RBFOX3 or Fox-1 homolog C) is a 350 amino acid RNA-binding protein containing one RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain. It is localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm and is involved in regulating alternative splicing events.
The Fox-3 gene is located on human chromosome 17, which encodes over 1,200 genes and includes key tumor suppressors p53 and BRCA1.
- p53: Maintains genomic integrity by mediating DNA repair and apoptosis; its loss is linked to malignant growth and Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
- BRCA1: Functions in DNA repair and is associated with early-onset breast and ovarian cancers, as well as cancers of the colon, prostate, and fallopian tubes.
