Target Information
TLK2 (Tousled-like kinase 2) is a nuclear serine/threonine kinase involved in the regulation of chromatin assembly and other cellular processes such as intracellular signaling, protein amino acid phosphorylation, cell cycle control, chromatin modification, and response to DNA damage. TLK2 shows maximal activity during the S phase of the cell cycle and is regulated by cell-cycle-dependent phosphorylation. Inhibition of DNA replication rapidly decreases TLK2 activity, indicating its function is tightly linked to DNA replication. TLK2 is inactivated by phosphorylation at Ser-750, potentially by CHK1, and forms heterodimers with TLK1. It is widely expressed in tissues including fetal placenta, liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, skeletal muscle, and several adult cell lines.
