Target Information
Autophagy-related protein 16L1 (ATG16L1) is encoded by the ATG16L gene located on chromosome 2 in humans. Also known as WD30 or IBD10 (Inflammatory Bowel Disease 10), ATG12 and ATG5 conjugate and oligomerize with ATG16L1 to form an ~800 kDa Atg16L complex. This complex mediates LC3 lipidation to phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), serving as a key marker for autophagy. Additionally, ATG16L1 and other ATGs (ATG18, ATG21) prevent premature cleavage of ATG8-PE by Atg4 until autophagosome completion.
