Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Alpha actinins belong to the spectrin gene superfamily, which includes diverse cytoskeletal proteins such as alpha and beta spectrins and dystrophins.
Alpha actinin is an actin-binding protein with multiple roles in different cell types:
- In nonmuscle cells, it is found along microfilament bundles and adherens-type junctions, binding actin to the membrane.
- In muscle cells (skeletal, cardiac, smooth), it is localized to the Z-disc and analogous dense bodies, anchoring myofibrillar actin filaments.
