This affinity purified antibody is directed against the V5 epitope tag and is useful in detecting its presence in overexpressed proteins across various assays. It recognizes the V5 epitope tag (Gly-Lys-Pro-Ile-Pro-Asn-Pro-Leu-Leu-Gly-Leu-Asp-Ser-Thr) fused to either amino- or carboxy-termini of target proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
Target Information
Epitope tags allow localization of gene products in various cell types, study of protein topology and complexes, identification of associated proteins, and characterization of low-abundance or poorly immunogenic proteins when specific antibodies are unavailable.
The V5 epitope tag originates from the P and V proteins of the paramyxovirus of simian virus (SV5). It typically uses the full 14 amino acid sequence (GKPIPNPLLGLDST), but shorter versions (IPNPLLGLD) are also used.
