Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The BARD1 gene encodes a protein that interacts with the N-terminal region of BRCA1. This interaction involves conserved regions including the N-terminal RING motif and the C-terminal BRCT domain. The RING motif is a cysteine-rich sequence found in proteins regulating cell growth, such as tumor suppressors and proto-oncogenes. BARD1 also contains three tandem ankyrin repeats. The BARD1/BRCA1 interaction can be disrupted by tumorigenic mutations in BRCA1, suggesting that their stable complex formation is essential for BRCA1 tumor suppression. BARD1 may be a target of oncogenic mutations in breast or ovarian cancer.
