Target Information
SUN3 is a probable component of the LINC (LInker of Nucleoskeleton and Cytoskeleton) complex, which connects the nuclear lamina to the cytoskeleton. These nucleocytoplasmic interactions are crucial for transmitting mechanical forces across the nuclear envelope and for nuclear movement and positioning. SUN3 may also play a role in nuclear remodeling during sperm head formation in spermatogenesis. A probable SUN3:SYNE1 LINC complex may tether spermatid nuclei to posterior cytoskeletal structures such as the manchette.
