Product Specific Information
- In Western blots, approximately 45% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse Adiponectin and 35% with recombinant human Adiponectin are observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Information
Adiponectin is a protein hormone secreted exclusively by adipocytes that regulates lipid and glucose metabolism. It plays roles in homeostasis and obesity. Decreased levels are associated with obesity, insulin resistance, and hyperinsulinemia (type 2 diabetes). In mice, adiponectin improves insulin signaling and activates AMP kinase and PPAR-alpha, promoting fatty acid transport and oxidation in skeletal muscle, reducing intramyocellular lipid levels.
