Target Information
Zinc is an essential element required for cell proliferation and differentiation, playing a role in a wide range of cellular functions. It acts as a cofactor for numerous enzymes and transcription factors and serves as a neuroregulator. The zinc transporter (ZnT) family regulates intracellular zinc supply, characterized by six membrane-spanning domains, a histidine-rich intracellular loop, and a C-terminal tail. ZnT-1, a ubiquitous protein (~60 kDa), localizes to the plasma membrane to facilitate zinc export.
