Target Information
CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 are associated with cancer susceptibility. CHK2 is activated by DNA damage and phosphorylates several modulators of cell cycle control, including tumor suppressor proteins. It can also phosphorylate BRCA1, aiding in cell survival after DNA damage. CHK2 acts as a putative tumor suppressor, with mutations linked to Li-Fraumeni syndrome, sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
