By Western blot, product 35-8800 detects a band at approximately 60 kDa, which likely represents an isoform or post-translationally modified form of CXCR4, many of which have been described in the literature.
Target Information
CXCR4 (also known as Fusin, LESTR, HUMSTR) is a member of the G-protein-coupled chemokine receptor family with seven transmembrane domains. It functions as a co-receptor for X4 HIV-1 entry into CD4+ cells and also serves as a receptor for HIV-2 via envelope glycoprotein gp120. CXCR4 binds to the chemokine CXCL12/SDF-1, initiating intracellular calcium signaling and MAPK1/MAPK3 activation. It also acts as a receptor for extracellular ubiquitin, influencing calcium and cAMP levels. CXCR4 plays essential roles in hematopoiesis, cardiac and vascular development, and CNS neuron survival. Antibodies targeting CXCR4 can block HIV-1 and HIV-2 fusion and infection of human cells.
