Product Specific Information
The Ber-H2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD30, a 120 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein of the TNFR superfamily. CD30 is expressed on activated T and B lymphocytes, but not on resting lymphocytes. It is also found on certain lymphomas, embryonal carcinomas, and virus-infected lymphocytes (HIV, HTLV, EBV).
Interaction with CD30L leads to NF-kappaB activation and regulates apoptosis.
This antibody is validated for flow cytometric analysis of stimulated human peripheral blood cells.
Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test (100 µL final volume).
Excitation: 488 nm; Emission: 520 nm; Laser: Blue Laser.
Post-manufacturing filtration: 0.2 µm.
Target Information
CD30 (Ki-1, TNF Receptor Superfamily Member 8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the TNF receptor superfamily. It was first identified on Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells. The ligand for CD30 is CD30L (CD153), and their interaction mediates cell proliferation, activation, differentiation, and apoptosis.
CD30 plays a critical role in Hodgkin’s disease and other CD30+ lymphomas, and acts as a costimulatory molecule in thymic negative selection. It is expressed on Hodgkin’s and Reed-Sternberg cells, some non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, virus-infected T/B cells, and activated normal T/B cells.
Soluble CD30 (sCD30) serves as a marker of Th2 immune response. TRAF2 and TRAF5 interactions lead to NF-kappaB activation. CD30 positively regulates apoptosis and limits autoreactive CD8 effector T cell proliferation.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants are known. CD30 expression is characteristic of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Reed-Sternberg cells, ALCL, and embryonal carcinomas.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
