STAT5 alpha는 STAT 전사인자 패밀리의 구성원으로, cytokine 및 성장인자 자극에 의해 receptor-associated kinase에 의해 인산화되어 핵으로 이동 후 전사 활성화 역할을 수행합니다.
STAT5 alpha는 IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin 등 다양한 리간드에 의해 활성화되며, TEL/JAK2 유전자 융합과 관련된 myeloma 및 lymphoma에서 자극 독립적으로 활성화되어 종양 형성에 필수적임이 보고되었습니다.
Mouse STAT5 alpha는 BCL2L1/BCL-X(L) 발현을 유도하여 항아포토시스 기능을 가지며, STAT5 beta와 96%의 아미노산 서열 유사성을 공유합니다. 두 단백질은 대부분의 조직에서 함께 발현되며, 생식, 수유, 면역 기능, 성장 등 다양한 생리적 기능에 관여합니다.
