This antibody detects endogenous levels of eNOS only when phosphorylated at Ser114.
Target Information
Nitric oxide (NO) is an inorganic, gaseous free radical that functions as a signaling molecule between cells. It plays roles in vasorelaxation, neurotransmission, and cytotoxicity. NO production is mediated by nitric oxide synthase (NOS) enzymes, which catalyze the oxidation of L-arginine to produce L-citrulline and NO. Three NOS isoforms have been cloned:
- nNOS (neuronal, type I)
- iNOS (inducible, type II)
- eNOS (endothelial, type III)
All NOS isoforms contain calmodulin, NADPH, FAD, and FMN binding domains.
