The γ-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT/γ-GT) Colorimetric Activity Kit is a highly reliable and sensitive assay designed for the quantitative measurement of GGT in serum, plasma, and animal tissue samples.
GGT is widely present in various organs of the human body, including the liver, kidney, and pancreas. It catalyzes the degradation of glutathione (GSH) and plays a role in regulating glutathione levels, as well as amino acid absorption and excretion.
Altered GGT activity is associated with various diseases, especially those affecting the hepatobiliary system.
Assay Principle
The assay utilizes the catalytic property of GGT to transfer a γ-glutamyl group from glutamyl p-nitroaniline to N-glycyl glycine, producing p-nitroaniline.
p-Nitroaniline exhibits a characteristic absorption peak at 405 nm, enabling quantitative measurement of GGT activity.
