Target Information
TRPC5 belongs to the transient receptor family and is one of seven mammalian TRPC (transient receptor potential channel) proteins. It is a multi-pass membrane protein forming receptor-activated, non-selective calcium permeant cation channels. TRPC5 can function alone or as a heteromultimeric complex with TRPC1, TRPC3, and TRPC4.
It interacts with proteins such as calmodulin, CABP1, enkurin, NHERF, MX1, RNF24, and SESTD1. TRPC5 activity is regulated by phosphatidylinositol second messenger systems activated by receptor tyrosine kinases or G-protein coupled receptors. It may also be activated by intracellular calcium store depletion.
Diseases associated with TRPC5 include Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis and Pyloric Stenosis.
