Target Information

The DDX3X protein is a member of the DEAD-box protein family characterized by the conserved Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) motif and exhibits ATP-dependent RNA helicase activity. It displays high RNA-independent ATPase activity, stimulated by both RNA and DNA. DDX3X functions in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, participating in transcriptional regulation, mRNP assembly, pre-mRNA splicing, mRNA export, translation, cellular signaling, and viral replication. Dysregulation of this gene is associated with tumorigenesis. A paralog, DDX3Y, is located in the nonrecombining region of the Y chromosome, and pseudogenes similar to both DDX3X and DDX3Y exist on chromosome 4 and the X chromosome. Alternative splicing leads to multiple transcript variants.
