This antibody recognizes the p28 subunit either as part of a p28/EBI-3 heterodimer or as a free subunit.
Target Information
IL-27 (Interleukin 27) is a cytokine belonging to the IL-12 family. It is a heterodimer composed of EBI3 and p28 subunits and is produced by activated dendritic cells and macrophages in response to Toll-like receptor ligands and pro-inflammatory cytokines.
IL-27 promotes CD4+ T cell differentiation to the Th1 lineage by inducing expression of T-bet and upregulating IL-12Rβ2, suppressing Th2 and Th17 differentiation.
It acts through WSX-1 and gp130 receptors, activating the Jak/STAT signaling cascade and regulating immune responses.
IL-27 may also serve as a therapeutic agent against cancer by inducing tumor-specific anti-tumor activity via CD8+ T cells, IFN-γ, and T-bet.
In humans, the IL-27 gene is located on chromosome 16p.
