Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway, consisting of stacked cisternae. Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are crucial for reorganization during mitosis.
GOLGA5 encodes a coiled-coil membrane protein of the golgin family involved in vesicle tethering and docking. Translocations involving GOLGA5 and the RET proto-oncogene have been identified in tumor tissues, forming chimeric sequences RET-II and PTC5.
