Target Information
Catenins (alpha, beta, and gamma) are cytoplasmic proteins found in many developing and adult tissues. They bind directly or indirectly to the cytoplasmic tail domain of cell adhesion cadherins. The catenin–cadherin complex links to the actin filament network and plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, signal transduction, and differentiation.
Alpha-Catenin (CAP102, 102 kDa) was originally described as an E-cadherin–associated protein and also associates with N-cadherin and P-cadherin.
