Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of Caveolin 2 only when phosphorylated at Ser36.
Target Information
Caveolae are specialized domains of the plasma membrane involved in the sequestration of lipid and protein molecules. These organelles play key roles in lipid metabolism, growth regulation, signal transduction, and apoptosis.
Caveolin interacts with and regulates heterotrimeric G-proteins. There are three members in the caveolin multigene family encoding 21–24 kDa integral membrane proteins that form the major structural component of caveolar membranes.
Caveolin-2 is abundantly expressed in fibroblasts, adipocytes, smooth and skeletal muscle, and endothelial cells. Caveolin-1 shows similar expression patterns, whereas Caveolin-3 expression is limited to muscle tissue.
