Antibody detects endogenous levels of Caveolin 2 only when phosphorylated at Ser23.
Target Information
Caveolae are specialized domains of the plasma membrane involved in the sequestration of lipid and protein molecules. These structures play key roles in lipid metabolism, growth regulation, signal transduction, and apoptosis. Caveolin interacts with and regulates heterotrimeric G-proteins.
There are three members of the caveolin multigene family encoding 21–24 kDa integral membrane proteins that form the major structural component of caveolar membranes. Caveolin-2 is abundantly expressed in fibroblasts, differentiated adipocytes, smooth and skeletal muscle, and endothelial cells. Caveolin-1 shows similar expression patterns, while Caveolin-3 expression is restricted to muscle tissues.
