Target Information
KCNQs are members of the voltage-dependent non-inactivating potassium channel family. Five known members (KCNQ1–5) are expressed in the central nervous system. KCNQ2 and KCNQ3 form heteromultimers that enhance M-current activation, which regulates neuronal excitability and synaptic responsiveness. Mutations in these proteins are associated with benign familial neonatal convulsions (BFNC), deafness, neuropathic pain, and epilepsy.
