Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the serine/arginine (SR)-rich family of pre-mRNA splicing factors, components of the spliceosome.
Each factor contains an RNA recognition motif (RRM) for RNA binding and an RS domain for protein interactions.
The RS domain, rich in serine and arginine residues, mediates interactions between SR splicing factors.
SR proteins are involved in mRNA splicing, nuclear export, and translation.
Two pseudogenes have been identified—one on chromosome 15 and another on chromosome 21.
