SLC1A5 (Solute carrier family 1 (neutral amino acid transporter), member 5)는 Na(+)-의존성 아미노산 수송체 초가족에 속하며, 광범위한 기질 특이성을 가지며 zwitterionic 아미노산에 대한 선호성을 보입니다. 글루타민, 아스파라긴, 가지사슬 및 방향족 아미노산을 포함한 중성 아미노산을 기질로 받아들이며, 메틸화된 아미노산, 음이온성 및 양이온성 아미노산은 제외합니다. 또한 feline endogenous virus RD114, baboon M7 endogenous virus, type D simian retroviruses의 세포 표면 수용체로 작용합니다.
