Target Information
Ribosomes, the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits are composed of four RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins. The RPS5 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 40S subunit and belongs to the S7P family. It is located in the cytoplasm. Variable expression has been observed in colorectal cancers compared to adjacent normal tissues, though no correlation with disease severity has been found. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
