The PA1-73126 antibody reacts with Poliovirus types 1–3.
It has been successfully used in ELISA applications.
The antibody was raised against a mixture of purified virus (types 1–3).
Target Information
Poliovirus is a single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the Picornavirus family, characterized by a small RNA genome (7.2 kb to 8.5 kb).
It is an enterovirus that primarily infects the gastrointestinal-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) and can spread to the central nervous system, causing paralysis.
Mortality, though rare, is usually due to respiratory failure resulting from paralysis of the intercostal muscles and diaphragm.
There are three types of the virus: Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3.
