Target Information

Enterococci are part of the lactic acid bacteria family and represent a major bacterial genus in hospital infections, particularly E. faecium. In the food industry, they can spoil processed meats but also contribute to the ripening and aroma of traditional cheeses and sausages, and are used as probiotics. However, they exhibit broad-spectrum antibiotic resistance with significant implications for human health and disease.
