Product Specific Information

The RM4-5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD4 molecule, a 55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by most thymocytes, a subset of mature T cells, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II molecules on antigen-presenting cells and is essential for T cell development and function. RM4-5 binding is blocked by GK1.5.

• Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometry using mouse splenocytes at ≤0.125 µg/test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test)
• Note: Alexa Fluor 561 may show non-specific staining of B cells in Swiss Webster and SJL mice but not in BALB/c or C57BL/6 strains.

Target Information

CD4 is a co-receptor involved in MHC class II recognition and HIV binding. It is primarily expressed on T helper cells and some monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain non-lymphoid tissues. It associates with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase to mediate T-cell activation. Alternative splicing variants exist (RefSeq, July 2017).
