Product Specific Information
The UCHT1 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD3e, a 20 kDa subunit of the TCR complex. Along with other CD3 subunits (gamma and delta), the epsilon chain is required for proper assembly, trafficking, and surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes in a developmentally regulated manner and by all mature T cells.
Crosslinking of TCR via immobilized UCHT1 initiates intracellular signaling that leads to cellular activation and proliferation.

- Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and validated for normal human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test)

Target Information
The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulating TCR surface expression. It includes CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits, all encoded on human chromosome 11. These subunits possess cytoplasmic tails containing tyrosine-based motifs that mediate association with signal transduction molecules.
CD3 plays roles in TCR-induced growth arrest, survival, and proliferation. It is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells in the cerebellum, but not on B or NK cells. Decreased T lymphocyte percentages may occur in certain autoimmune diseases. CD3 gene defects are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
