Antibody detects endogenous levels of p21 Cip1 only when phosphorylated at Ser130.
Target Information
Protein p21 is a tumor suppressor protein that inhibits Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) and is transcriptionally activated by p53. It plays a key role in cellular response to genotoxic stress and DNA damage repair by blocking the transition from G1 to S phase or G2 to mitosis. In the cytoplasm, p21 exhibits anti-apoptotic effects by inhibiting caspase 3 and apoptotic kinases ASK1 and JNK. p21 functions both as a tumor suppressor and oncogene depending on cellular context.
