Target Information
eIF4A2 is a 407-amino-acid ATP-dependent RNA helicase belonging to the DEAD box helicase family. It contains one helicase ATP-binding domain and a helicase C-terminal domain. eIF4A2, a subunit of the eIF4F complex, functions as a protein synthesis initiation factor, playing a key role in mRNA binding to the 43S pre-initiation ribosomal complex. It interacts with the NS5B protein of Hepatitis C virus (HCV), facilitating genomic RNA synthesis by unwinding secondary structures of the HCV genome. eIF4A2 is ubiquitously expressed in most normal tissues, with variable expression levels.
