Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis and consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit, composed of four RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins. The RPL24 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L24E family. It is located in the cytoplasm and has been previously referred to as ribosomal protein L30 due to amino acid identity with L30 from S. cerevisiae. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
