Target Information
High density lipoproteins (HDLs) function with lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase and CETP to facilitate cholesterol transport from tissues to the liver, known as reverse cholesterol transport. CETP mediates neutral lipid transfer activity in plasma and influences lipid exchange between pro- and anti-atherogenic lipoproteins. Elevated CETP levels are associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease, making CETP a potential target for atherosclerosis prevention.
