RAB27A 단백질은 small GTPase superfamily, Rab family에 속하며, 막 결합형으로 단백질 수송과 small GTPase 매개 신호전달에 관여합니다. 이 유전자의 변이는 Griscelli syndrome type 2와 관련이 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 동일 단백질을 암호화하는 네 가지 전사 변형체가 확인되었습니다. 림프구의 세포독성 과립 배출에 중요한 역할을 하며, 면역 시냅스에서 과립 성숙, 도킹 및 프라이밍 과정에 필수적입니다.
