Target Information
This gene encodes a protein involved in cytokinesis. The protein is present at high levels during the S and G2/M phases of mitosis but decreases dramatically in G1 phase. It localizes to the nucleus during interphase, associates with mitotic spindles during mitosis, and to the cell mid-body during cytokinesis. It serves as a substrate for several cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and is essential for polarizing parallel microtubules and assembling the contractile ring.
