Target Information
The Notch gene family encodes transmembrane proteins characterized by multiple epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like repeats in their extracellular domains. In mammals, four Notch genes have been identified: Notch1, Notch2, Notch3, and Notch4 (Int-3). These genes are involved in the differentiation of the nervous system and other tissues. Ligands such as Delta and Serrate interact with Notch1 receptors. Mature Notch proteins are heterodimeric receptors composed of an extracellular subunit (NEC) with multiple EGF-like repeats and a transmembrane subunit containing an intracellular region (Ntm).
