Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor can form homodimers or heterodimers with PDGF receptor alpha depending on the bound ligand. The PDGFRB gene, located on chromosome 5, is flanked by genes for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor, all possibly involved in 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 leads to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
